All of Western PA was giddy about the fact that Glassport native and Penn State product Jesse James made the Steelers roster last season and there’s no reason to think that he can’t develop into a premier tight end at some point.

At this point, however, why not replace one Miller with another? The Steelers will quickly find that there is no replacement for Heath Miller but it might not be realistic to expect Jesse James to step into a more prominent role in his second season.

Zach Miller is an athletic tight end that became Jay Culter’s favorite target last season with the Bears. Miller had 34 receptions for 439 yards and five touchdowns last season with the bears. At 31 he certainly isn’t a long-term replacement at tight end but he could fill the role Heath Mille left behind while James develops.

Next: Who are the Steelers meeting with

The Steelers are likely to sign very few outside free agents so they had better make it count. Last year they knocked it out of the park with the signing of DeAngelo Williams and the year before, although we didn’t know it at the time, they did as well with the signing if Mike Mitchell.

Historically the Steelers have signed impact players as free agents like Ryan Clark and James Farrior. Which free agent will be the impact player for the Steelers in 2016?
