Top 3

We’re back at the AFC North round table over at ESPN and it was Jeremy Fowler’s turn to ask the question. He inquired if the group would agree that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger; woefully ranked too low in the NFL Top 100 poll was one of the top three quarterbacks in the league?

The man to watch in camp

We’re just under a month out from the start of Steelers training camp so the prediction machines are cranking up all over the place. NFL Network’s Around the NFL describes the player to keep an eye on this August is wide receiver Sammie Coates.

Coates was the draft pick everyone questioned last April but he made more sense once news of the Martavis Bryant suspension came out. Coates, described as having the build of a young Terrell Owens, can make a big move to a place of prominence in this offense if he’s mastered the playbook.

Mike Florio of PFT explains how the controversy is bubbling out because both sides decided to make it all public as of last week. The NFL has been attempting to interview these players since January and the NFLPA has been stepping in and requesting information on the basis with neither side budging.

The importance of the NFLPA standing firm in asking the NFL to produce additional justification for this probe other than the recanted statements of a guy in a YouTube video talking about some pro football players. Its one thing to investigate players based on legit allegations and quite another to go on a fishing expedition with their reputations hanging in the balance.
