The Steelers are all checked in and accounted for at Saint Vincent College and 2016 training camp is officially underway for the 51st year in Latrobe.
While the Steelers get the pads on and get preparations started on the 2016 regular season we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Friday, Aug. 5th.
Opportunity knocks
Steelers rookie defensive tackle Javon Hargrave got an opportunity to show his stuff in Wednesday’s practice with Cameron Heyward being limited and Stephon Tuitt getting a day off. According to Mike Prisuta, coach Mike Tomlin strategically puts the new or younger guys in positions to take lots of reps.
It gives him a chance to see how their conditioning level is and how quickly they may become fatigued and it also gives the player a chance at having a chance. Hargrave showed out in the “seven shots” drill as well as in some 11-on-11 work.

It’s a “No” from me
Social media is mostly fun. It allows people all over the world to connect and enjoy technology and being social. Sometimes, it’s not great. This is one of those times. The app “Snap Chat” has a filter which lets you swap your face with a photo of another person.
I firmly believe these things were not meant to be shared publicly. CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson has assembled some of the worst #SteelersSwap where fans have been swapping their faces for the faces of Steelers players past and present.
The results are horrifying. Don’t click that link if you’re not prepared to have some nightmares. Not every social media fad is a good idea. Remember that. Go Steelers!
How’s he doing?
I’m sure you were just thinking to yourself, how’s Artie Burns doing so far in Steelers camp? Well, being paired up to go against Antonio Brown every day certainly won’t do wonders for Burns’ ego, that’s for sure. He couldn’t have a worse last name for a cornerback, either.
In spite of all that, Chris Adamski of the Trib points out that Burns is getting a top-notch education on being a cover corner because Brown is giving all indications that he’s taking this matchup seriously and he’s not taking it easy on the rookie.
Next: Steelers camp with Mel Blount
Let’s face it; even without the injury to Senquez Golson the odds were good that Burns was going to be needed on the field right away anyway. If Burns is up to the challenge of taking on Brown every day then what receiver he opposes could actually scare him?
