While the team game plans for Washington and practices all week we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Friday, Sept. 9th.

He told you

For anyone who thought that an ankle injury was keeping Cameron Heyward off of the field for the first game of the 2016 regular season I can only point you to the Steelers first official injury report. The report of Thursday’s practice released by the team clearly states that Heyward was a full participant.

Also fully participating in Thursday’s practice were Shamarko Thomas, Marcus Gilbert, Javon Hargrave and Daniel McCullers. Markus Wheaton, Rosie Nix and Cody Wallace all sat out of practice. Also happening in the medial world Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree had surgery on Thursday.

Stepping in

Steelers safety Mike Mitchell talked to the Good Morning Football crew about a number of topics including how he felt stepping in for a “legend” in Pittsburgh like Troy Polamalu. Mitchell explained that it wasn’t easy, especially with the injuries he was playing through during his first season in Pittsburgh.

Mitchell went on to talk up Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins and described how he respects his game and particularly his passer rating.

Can I get your jersey?

You have to love the start of the season. Everything is fresh and new. There are opportunities all around and overflowing positivity. Even Washington cornerback Josh Norman is full of love for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

ESPN’s John Keim has Norman’s comments on Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

"“Oh my gosh, Big Ben, another great one. You look at the quarterbacks in this league, and Big Ben has been up there since he’s been in the league. He’s one of the great ones. I’ll walk up to him and be like, ‘Hey, can I get your jersey?’ That’s how much respect I’ve got for him. I don’t ask for jerseys like that, until someone shows me they are great at what they do. Big Ben is that. That’s the utmost respect I have for a quarterback.” – Josh Norman"

I’m sure Roethlisberger can rest easy now knowing that he’s got Josh Norman’s respect. Big weight off of his shoulders there.
