The Steelers kick off their season on Monday Night Football in our nation’s capital.

The long national nightmare known as the NFL offseason is officially over and we’re back to football again. First on the menu for the Steelers in their quest for their seventh Lombardi trophy is the Washington Redskins.

The Steelers kick off the season with a lot of high expectations, both self-imposed and from outside. They’re some NFL experts’ “sexy pick” to win it all this season and for good reason. With an offense that features Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams who would pick against them?

Pittsburgh’s downfall this season could be either suspensions or injuries. They’re missing Bell for the first three games of the season after already knowing they’d be without receiver Martavis Bryant for the entire year.

They’re also without cornerback Senquez Golson so far for the second-straight year and are missing their main free agent signing of tight end Ladarius Green. Second-year linebacker Bud Dupree is on the Injured Reserve/Designated for Return list as he recently had quad surgery.

Monday night they’ll be without starting receiver Markus Wheaton, who is out with a shoulder injury.

For a team who had to overcome injury after injury last season and still made it to the divisional round of the playoffs you have to still feel pretty good about their chances if there are no major injuries to the key players.

We’ll be watching a basically completely revamped secondary featuring starting corners William Gay and Ross Cockrell but also wondering when first-round pick Artie Burns and second round pick Sean Davis make their mark on the field.

For this particular matchup everyone is anxious to see how Antonio Brown does against cornerback Josh Norman, who signed with Washington to become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL this offseason. Brown went up against seemingly every other elite corner last season and no one could stop him.
