While the team recovers from the latest win and gets ready to head to Miami to face the Dolphins we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Tuesday, Oct. 11th.

Pittsburgh is stronger than cancer

DeAngelo Williams only got one carry in Sunday’s 31-13 win over the New York Jets but that doesn’t mean he didn’t come away from the game empty-handed. NFL news reported the exchange between him and Jets receiver Brandon Marshall after the game.

Marshall wore pink cleats dedicating the game to Williams and his late mother and gave them to be donated for Williams’ charity. For those who don’t know it is because of Williams and his late mother, Sandra Hill, that the NFL turns pink in October for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Williams’ charity provides free mammograms to women among other initiatives in honor of his mother and his four aunts who all lost their lives to breast cancer.

If this is the time for everyone to get injured and the team will be perfectly healthy come December I guess that’s what it’s going to have to be. Another player went down in Sunday’s game and this time its defensive captain Cameron Heyward.

He left Sunday’s 31-13 win with a hamstring injury that could cost him a few weeks, according to NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala.

The Steelers have their bye Week 8.

The D gets it done

The defense is contributing mightily to the 4-1 record right now, even with the injuries that have plagued the unit. One example of the “next man up” mentality has been demonstrated by linebacker Vince Williams.

Teresa Varley tells how Williams steps in for the injured Ryan Shazier and has had back-to-back spectacular performances. Against the Jets he had nine tackles and a sack.

"“We are just playing off of each other. We have great team continuity here. Our offense is going to put up points and we are going to go out there and give them the ball back as much as we can. We you have all three phases of the game working like that; it’s going to produce wins.” – Vince Williams"

I’d like to see it keep on producing wins.
