Need Number Five: Running Back

The Steelers have the best all-around back in the NFL in Le’Veon Bell. After him, though, they have Fitzgerald Toussaint and newly signed Knile Davis. That backfield doesn’t scream depth to me at all.

The Steelers need a back to take some carries away from Bell. He has a heavy workload and although he enjoys that, it is not good for his service life.

Bell is a one cut style back and it would do the Steelers good to get a complimentary style in a rookie. They need a bruising back with power and a straight forward run style.

DeAngelo Williams will not be back this season by all indications. That leaves running back as a hole in the Steelers offense after Bell. Here are some targets at the position:

  • Deonta Foreman, Kareem Hunt, Wayne Gallman
  • Samaje Perine, Corey Clement, James Conner
