Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Le’Veon Bell, had his fun this April Fools Day.

In a tweet posted this morning, Bell had every Steelers fan at the edge of their seats. After Antonio Brown received his heft contract and Bell was franchised tagged for the 2017 season, Bell used the fun of April Fools Day to give fans a nice scare.

Next season, Bell will receive roughly $12 million with his tag, but the Steelers are looking for a long-term deal for the running back. Coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Kevin Colbert, and owner Art Rooney II all made it clear the goal is to give Bell the money he deserves.

Well, Bell used the situation to his advantage, emphasizing that he will not play on the franchise tag and that he’d sit out an entire season if he doesn’t get paid. For the gullible Steelers fans out there, this joke was more terrifying than funny.

It’s okay, Bell isn’t serious. He’s made it clear that he’s going to play next season no matter what. After quadruple checking, it is indeed a joke and fans can now relax.

Bell has been known to pull fans’ legs before. It may not be the most enjoyable holiday for Pittsburgh fans or anyone associated, but Bell sure gets a kick out of it. Who knows, maybe it would have worked if he was serious. Luckily enough, we don’t need to find out.

Franchise tag or not, Bell will be in the backfield next season. With the addition of Karlos Williams and Kniles Davis, Pittsburgh should have one of the best running units in the NFL. But without Bell, it would be no where near complete.

It was a good one Bell. Just please don’t do it again. Thanks.
