Pittsburgh Steelers beloved owner Dan Rooney has passed away at the age of 84, the Steelers announced via their twitter today.

Dan Rooney was and will remain one of the most respected owners in this league. The hearts of Steeler Nation weigh heavy today as we join the family and friends of Dan Rooney in mourning his loss.

Mr. Rooney was beloved by his peers and teammates as one of the best owners to play for and to work for. Players both former and current had nothing but great things to say about Dan and his family.

Dan Rooney played a huge role in the team’s six titles. He is a Pro Football Hall of Famer and he has made a huge impact on the NFL.

Mr. Rooney was always involved with the team and was not an owner that shied away from talking with his players and his employees. He created a real family atmosphere for the team.

Dan instilled a standard within his organization that his father Art instilled in him. Dan now passes that on to his son Art Rooney II.

The Steelers organization and its fans all love the Rooney family. Dan will be missed and the loss will be felt by the entire league.

Dan Rooney will be missed by all of us in Steeler Nation from the front office right down to the fans and everywhere in between. The NFL is losing a great man, owner, friend, and legend.

Please join us here at Still Curtain in sending heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the friends and family of Dan Rooney.
