After Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement scare, everyone is in agreement that the Pittsburgh Steelers need to draft a quarterback.

In a recent interview with TMZ, legendary rapper, Snoop Dogg, gave his thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 NFL Draft strategy. Like every other Steelers fan out there, Snoop Dogg believes Pittsburgh’s best option is to prepare for Big Ben’s departure now instead of waiting.

“Yeah, we gotta get a quarterback,” Snoop said. “Ben only gonna give us a year or two, so we gotta get somebody to get his back. Whoever we get, we’re gonna be alright.”

Duly-noted Snoop. The Steelers do need to draft a quarterback in this year’s draft, and everybody knows it. Whether Roethlisberger plays for the next year or five, Pittsburgh needs to prepare for his retirement and give their new play caller time to learn behind one of the best.

There are other parts of this team the Steelers need to address. On the defensive side of the ball, Pittsburgh has priorities much higher than finding the next Big Ben. But nonetheless, a quarterback should be something they are determined to find this year.

The problem is that Pittsburgh can’t use a high pick on a passer. There are barely any play callers worthy of a first round pick in the 2017 draft let alone any worthy of a second. The talent at the quarterback position as a lot of potential, but none are going to fix a team immediately. Because of that, most of them will fall out of the first two rounds.

For Pittsburgh, they have two third-round picks, and one should be used on a quarterback. This way they fill their defensive voids in the opening rounds and build for the future in the middle of the draft.

Players like Josh Dobbs, Brad Kaaya, and Nathan Peterman should all still be around. Therefore, Pittsburgh doesn’t have to panic about getting a QB early and can focus on adding immediate starters to their roster.

We’re listening, though, Snoop. You know what you’re talking about when it comes Steelers football. Hopefully, Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert are listening too. If not, though, I’m sure they know a future Big Ben is a must-add this offseason. With Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown still on the roster, there’s no way you don’t prepare for the future.

When it comes to the Steelers’ 2017 season, Snoop knows what’s up about that as well. When asked if Pittsburgh would make the playoffs next year, Snoop gave the answer we were all thinking.

“We always make the playoffs,” he said. “You know that.”

I never thought Snoop Dogg would be a go-to reference on a Steelers article, but there’s a first time for everything. The rapper gave some solid advice, though. Let’s just hope the front office were watching TMZ.
