Pittsburgh Steelers Select T.J. Watt in First Round of 2017 NFL Draft
The Pittsburgh Steelers have made their selection, and will add pass rusher, T.J. Watt, to their defense with the 30th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
After weeks of debating whether the Pittsburgh Steelers would go edge rusher, defensive back, or possibly an offensive weapon, the Steelers add T.J. Watt. The brother of All-Pro defensive end, JJ Watt, T.J. looks to be just as impactful in the NFL.
For the Steelers, they’ve been looking to complete their linebacking core. After drafting Ryan Shazier and Bud Dupree, Pittsburgh is one solid pass rusher away from their dominating second unit. With Watt, they now return to glory and look to become one of the most terrifying defense in the league once again.
At Wisconsin, Watt was known for his explosiveness off the edge, insane strength, and natural athleticism. Now, he heads to the next level looking to bring that same playmaking ability to the Steel City.
As he learns behind James Harrison, Watt will work his way into the starting lineup and become the key quarterback threat for this defense. With the teachings of Keith Butler, the Wisconsin product shouldn’t take long before becoming a major component of this team.
Welcome to the family, Watt! From all of here in Steelers Nation, we wish you nothing but the best, both on and off the field.
