The Pittsburgh Steelers selected defensive back, Cameron Sutton, 94th overall in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Steelers needed to add depth in the secondary, and they did that with Tennessee product, Cameron Sutton. The versatile defensive back will add quickness and playmaking ability to their secondary in 2017 while playing behind Artie Burns and Ross Cockrell.

Sutton can play anywhere in the secondary. As a coverage guy, he’ll be placed at corner and safety while mixing in at nickelback as well. As someone who can fill voids in numerous areas, Sutton will be a tremendous addition to this growing defense.

Pittsburgh continues to win the NFL Draft by selecting players they need to fill holes. Their roster isn’t complete yet, but there players will clean up some of the mess throughout the team. Even if Sutton isn’t expected to start right away, he can come in and make him impact known for the Steelers.

While they look to use the remaining five picks to continue boosting this team, the Steelers can look back and say they’ve accomplished what they needed to at this point in the draft. Sutton is just another addition to the defense that can step in and make plays. For the Steelers, that’s all they’re looking for.

Don’t expect this to be the Steelers’ only defensive back drafted, though. With more picks remaining, they could be looking to add depth to a few positions including their secondary.
