The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Tennessee quarterback, Josh Dobbs, in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

One of the smartest players to enter the NFL is now off the board. When Josh Dobbs isn’t playing football he’s focusing on aerospace engineering. Now, he’ll make football a career as he moves from Tennessee to Pittsburgh.

The Steelers needed a quarterback to learn behind Ben Roethlisberger and they now have one. Dobbs is a big-bodied tough passer with a strong arm and great football IQ. With a few years of development behind Big Ben, Dobbs should turn into the future successor of the Steelers’ Hall of Fame quarterback.

He does need some work with his accuracy and decision making. But once Dobbs is fine tuned he’ll be one of the best young players from this draft. Lucky for him, it appears Roethlisberger is sticking around for a little while. On top of it all, the Steelers’ offense is one of the best young units in football. Something that shouldn’t change much by the time Dobbs is ready to take over.

A quarterback may be the last thing Pittsburgh needed in this draft. Now, they can focus on best player available and begin to add depth to their roster. With three more picks remaining they could be looking to bulk their defense with some quality late-round picks.
