1. The Steelers know they have to win now

As the opening stated, Ben Roethlisberger is already contemplating retirement. With his years now numbered, Ben and the organization as a whole are under pressure to win now.

Early retirement has become a hip trend with today’s NFL stars as more and more information supporting the fact repeated blows to the head sustained during an NFL career increase the risk of developing CTE or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, aka Calvin Johnson.

Even if Big Ben were to retire, who could blame him? He is 35 years old, owns two Super Bowl Rings and has already made his money. Roethlisberger may have his best chance to win this season with all of the before slides proving why the Steelers can and should bring home their seventh Lombardi.

Defense has been a hindering factor in recent seasons for Pittsburgh, but the Steelers actually ranked 12th in yards allowed per game last season and only nine teams allowed fewer points per game. In the 2017 draft Pittsburgh used a first, third, fifth and seventh round pick to sure up the defense, so expect those middle of the pack/upper tier numbers to only improve.
