Pittsburgh Steelers sign first round draft pick T.J. Watt
Their first pick was the last to sign, but the Pittsburgh Steelers and T.J. Watt have agreed on a contract.
Watt and the Steelers finally agreed on a four year deal in which the financial details are disclosed. After being drafted 30th in the 2017 NFL Draft, Watt is considered one of the brightest young stars of the draft.
Brother of All-Pro defensive end, J.J. Watt, T.J. brings the same edge rushing dominance to Pittsburgh that his brother has displayed for the last six years. Judging from his 11.5 sacks in his final year at Wisconsin, Watt should be able to bring the same defensive firepower to the Steelers that his brother brings to Houston.
For Pittsburgh, their fans, and T.J., this signing is the biggest of the offseason. The Steelers defense needed a lot of work coming into the summer, but with the addition of this former Badger, they’re ready to provide some of the scariest pass rush in the NFL.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have now signed all of their eight draft picks, and move into minicamp with a full roster. With high hopes for a number of these rookies during the 2017 season, this summer is going to prove a lot in terms of Pittsburgh’s ability to move from AFC Championship to Super Bowl.
