After the Steelers second preseason game, the team will begin its normal regular season routine for the rest of camp. This gives the team a true dress rehearsal week leading up to the third preseason game, usually where starters play the longest.

Cut Dates

Unfortunately, not all these players on the current roster can make the team. The cut date has recently underwent a bit of a change which actually benefits guys that are trying to make the roster.

The NFL just this year decided to drop one round of cuts. Prior to this season, NFL teams were required to cut to 75 players at the first deadline and 53 at the second deadline.

The preseason ends September 1st and teams will then have to cut their rosters down 37 players from 90 to solidify their 53 man rosters. Be sure to check out our training camp battles and 53-man prediction articles to prepare for the start of camp.
