Does Senquez Golson still have a shot?

Yes, but no. With yet another injury keeping him off the field, Senquez Golson is waiting for his rest period to end so he can start proving he’s worth a roster spot, even after three consecutive training camp injuries. Although his most recent hamstring injury isn’t serious, it’s still missed time due to a failed body.

It’s a sad story when you think about Golson. All the hype surrounding him when he was drafted in 2015, and he’s yet to play an NFL game. Now, he’s considered a hit-or-miss player to make the team this year, and with his recent injury, it’s become closer to not making it than making it.

With rookie Cameron Sutton exploding in practice this summer, the competition is even more fierce for Golson. Now, instead of just competing with a bunch of veterans and signees for the nickel, he has to outplay a shining rookie with a ton of potential.

It doesn’t look good for Golson, but if he can come back from the hamstring injury and prove he’s still got a lot of football in him, Pittsburgh will likely take a chance on keeping him around. On the other hand, though, one more injury, big or small, and it’s probably the end of Golson’s career in Pittsburgh.

You can’t guarantee he’ll stay healthy when he returns, and right now, he’s one of the biggest mysteries in Pittsburgh. Hopefully, he works out and can contribute this season, but as of right now, it doesn’t look promising.
