For the Pittsburgh Steelers, there are bare minimum position battles for dark horses to arise.

After Week 1 of the preseason, though, the team looks like they could have a few players surprise a lot of people. With three preseason games left, low key players could very well be making a run for a spot on the final roster. With others slipping up in Week 1, the possibilities of breakout players this season are still out there.

Not everyone impressed. Plenty of guys who were expected to stand out during the first preseason game against the New York Giants failed to do so. Then, guys who no one expected to contribute made an early impression to make their way on to the final roster.

There’s still a lot of offseason left, but through one game, these players made a name for themselves. With superstars still not playing, it’s time for these players to bump their stock even more, and prove they deserve to make the cut.

How this final roster will look come Week 1 is still pretty unknown. But with these surprise candidates performing the way they did, there’s no telling what the final 53-man roster for the Steelers will look like.
One thing is almost certain, though. These players have worked their way into the final cut after their first preseason game.
