The Pittsburgh Steelers will create their own protest this Sunday.
Instead of kneeling for the national anthem, the Pittsburgh Steelers will remain in the locker room, Mike Tomlin told CBS Sports.
Following President Donal Trump’s controversial words during a speech Friday, where the President suggested that players who kneeled for the national anthem should be fired. Now, it appears most of the NFL is responding with protest as many players, coaches, and even owners have decided to sit or kneel during the anthem.
This is a unique form of protest. Instead of coming out and kneeling, Pittsburgh will remain off the field. While many teams are looking to show unity within each other, the Steelers are taking a different approach and looking to remain as a team and make a statement as one.

The Steelers aren’t known to be one of the teams with players kneeling. With Alejandro Villanueva on the roster, a former member of the military, this is a slight surprise. However, it’s good to see that as a team the Steelers are looking to make a statement and stand with one anther to show their disapproval of the President of the United State, the inequality facing this country, and many other problems they deal with.
It’ll be interesting to see how this stand is broadcasted. Most likely, CBS will have cameras in the locker room to show the players waiting to enter the field.

Not everyone will approve of this message, but to do it as a team, the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing something many should idolize.
