Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back, Joe Haden, is expected to miss multiple weeks with broken fibula.

Haden, who joined the Steelers right before the season started, left Week 10’s game against the Indianapolis Colts with a broken fibula. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Haden is expected to miss up to six weeks.

Haden has started all nine games for the team this year and was third on the team with five pass break ups. With the Pittsburgh defense coming a long way since last season, losing Haden is a serious issue moving forward.

Avoiding surgery leaves hope for the Steelers, but having to deal with quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota, Andy Dalton and Tom Brady without Haden is going to make these matchups much more difficult.

Coty Sensabaugh stepped in for Haden after leaving the game. Next week, it’s likely that Sensabaugh continues to play on the outside while William Gay works from the slot corner position. Depending on how this rotation works, Pittsburgh also has the option of moving a player and bringing rookie, Cameron Sutton, onto the roster.

Haden will likely return to the team during the playoffs, but could step in to get his feet wet again during Week 16 or 17 versus the New England Patriots or Cleveland Browns. Depending on how ready he is come Week 16’s matchup with the Pats, having Haden return could be a significant factor in the outcome of the game.
