Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end, Cameron Heyward, was named the Week 12 AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

After his dominating performance against the Green Bay Packers, Cam Heyward was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week. While the Steelers continue to rack up wins, their players are being recognized with their gamechanging plays.

This is Heyward’s second Defensive Player of the Week award of his career and the 2017 season, his first coming in Week 4. The last Steelers player to win multiple Defensive Player of the Week awards during one season was future Hall of Famer, Troy Polamalu in 2010.

After missing a majority of the 2016 season, Heyward has come back better than ever. It’s easy to see and say that he’s one of the best defensive players in the league and is continuing to lead this team week after week.

As Pittsburgh’s defense claims team after team, everyone on this roster should be paid credit. But what Heyward is doing this season is unbelievable, but truth be told, completely expected by the Steelers.

Everyone saw the come up of Heyward as something special. He has the mentality to continue improving, and is making more and more noise each season. Already representing the Steelers in a Pro Bowl before, Heyward has become the face of Pittsburgh’s defense during their 2017 run towards the top of the AFC.

Heyward is likely another Pro Bowl selection this season, but that doesn’t mean he stops there. The Steelers goal is the Super Bowl and behind Heyward and this defense, that’s a real possibility.

Next: The Steelers cannot look ahead just yet

There’s still plenty of time left for Heyward to win more awards. With big games remaining on the Steelers’ schedule, everyone can expect major play from Pittsburgh’s star defensive end, and maybe a few Weekly recognitions to go along with it. Oh, and some wins.
