Pittsburgh Steelers former linebacker, James Harrison, was the most shocking roster move of the 2017 season, but until today, there was hope this was all an illusion.

After being cut by the Steelers on Saturday, many fans were upset that Pittsburgh released one of their most valued players. Even if the linebacker was in a minimum role this season, his contribution as a veteran leader was known throughout the city.

Harrison was waived to make room for returning tackle, Marcus Gilbert. Following a PED suspension, Gilbert is set to return to the field in Week 16, which meant someone on the team needed to be dropped to make room.

Despite the move upsetting many, there was still hope the team would make a move and bring Harrison back to the roster. But after seeing the linebacker’s Instagram post, hopes of another return to Pittsburgh seem to be out the window.

This is a sad day in Pittsburgh. Harrison has established himself as one of the most loved players in Pittsburgh. An extremely loyal member of the black and yellow, Harrison will forever be enshrined in Steelers history. The team’s all-time sack leader did just as much off the field as on, being known for his insane lifting routines and incredible muscle.

Wherever the future Hall of Famer ends up with be heartbreaking, but every Steelers fan is wishing him the best of luck in whatever remains of his career. It would’ve been nice to see him return in the Steel City, but after a remarkable career, no one is taking anything away from Harrison.

It’s been one hell of a ride for No. 92. Now, we’ll all sit back and watch him possibly finish his career in another uniform for only the second time in 16 years.

Whatever is next for Harrison, every Steelers fan is hoping for nothing but the best. For all of us here at Still Curtain, we wish the all-time great nothing but the best.
