For the 4th time in his career, Antonio Brown has been named team MVP by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Antonio Brown could’ve been the first NFL wide receiver to be named league MVP if it wasn’t for a partially torn calf injury that has sidelined him for the last two weeks. Now, he’s trying to return to the field before the team’s first playoff game.
Even with the injury, though, Brown’s teammates knew he was the biggest part of this team. So, for the fourth time in his career, Brown has been named team MVP, voted on by his teammate.
Brown’s season may have ended early, but the impact he’s made during the Steelers season has been heard across the league.
This is Brown’s fourth award in seven years. Quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, has only won this award once in his 14-year career in 2009. It’s easy to say that the value Brown has brought to this team since being drafted is one of the biggest the team has seen in centuries.
Brown should return to the team by their first playoff game. With a first-round bye already secured, the Steelers have two weeks before Brown should return to action.
With the players on this Steelers offense, winning the award after missing time is impressive. Le’Veon Bell and Ben Roethlisberger are putting up Pro Bowl type numbers. Compared to Brown, though, no one is having as impressive of a season.
Brown’s focus will remain on his return to the field, but to win a award like this always adds confidence to any player. Knowing your teammates are behind you goes a long way in the NFL, and for Brown, he has the support of his entire team.
