The Pittsburgh Steelers have a chance to win one more regular season game and send an AFC North rival home winless in Week 17.
Week 17 isn’t very entertaining for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they square off with an 0-15 Cleveland Browns team. As many starters won’t even see the field, this game has become more of a gap week before Pittsburgh’s first playoff game.
Cleveland has been everything but impressive this season, going from the worst team in 2016 to, well, the worst team in 2017. So, as the Steelers look to rest starters, they’ll also be hoping to make their AFC rival only the second team in the NFL history to finish a season winless.
On top of that, Pittsburgh is looking for a little help as they try to claim the top seed in the AFC. The New England Patriots will need to fall to the hands of the New York Jets for the Steelers to claim homefield in the postseason.
Chances are that’s not going to happen. So, the team will most likely be without a number of starters. Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell, Maurkice Pouncey and Cameron Heyward will be the first players off the field, with most of the older veterans following as the game progresses.
This is a cake walk for Pittsburgh. Even with Landry Jones and Stevan Ridley leading the offense, this team is a 10.5 point favorite. Depending on how long other starters remain in the game, Cleveland might not even have a chance to keep this one close enough to make a game out of it late in the second half.
Next: Betting line drops as Steelers pull starters
This isn’t much of an exciting week for Pittsburgh or their fans. Paying attention the New England vs the Jets is something fans might be looking forward to more than the Steelers game.
Either way, handing Cleveland a winless season is something everyone can look forward to.
