Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Mike Munach’s name has been bounced around the NFL coaching market.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have had one of the best offensive line units in football for years. Since bringing in offensive coordinator, and Pennsylvania legend, Mike Munchak. After a stunt as a head coach in Tennessee, Munchak headed back to his home state to take on the offensive line in Pittsburgh, and become one of the offensive coordinators for a top NFL team.
Since then, this offense has become one of the best in the NFL, and continues to rise. As the line becomes more and more of a focal point for the Steelers, Munchak’s recognition continues to catch more attention.
After the regular season, Arizona Cardinals head coach, Bruce Ariens, announced his retirement after five seasons with the team. So, with the vacancy, Arizona is targeting the Pittsburgh coordinator.
With the Steelers entering the playoffs, Munchak needed permission to interview with the Cardinals for the position. Although the team’s and Munchak’s main concern is the team’s second-round playoff game.
For a team like Arizona, having a coach who has the ability to build a line like Munchak would go a long way. The team’s running backs, David Johnson and Adrian Peterson (if he stays), would be even better with a developed offensive line like Munchak can build.
Right now, Tomlin has said that Munchak is the only coordinator anyone is looking at. Todd Haley isn’t much of a hot topic in the market right now. Keith Butler may be too new to the defensive coordinator role to get offers this offseason.

Munchak could become even more popular as the playoffs move on. Depending on which teams are looking for coaches this offseason, the Steelers’ coordinator could make his way onto multiple teams’ list this summer.
