The Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 regular season has come to an end. Now is the perfect time to take a look at the three unsung heroes of the year.

The NFL is a battleground year in and year out. Each team strives to be the best team in their conference and eventually the entire league.

During this gauntlet of the NFL season, teams may face circumstances that cause them to rely on less common faces to produce. These unsung heroes are the difference between the great teams and the rest of the league.

Unsung heroes typically come out of nowhere to step up when it matters most. The team may have a set of hurdles to overcome and these players keep the machine running when needed.

The first unsung hero of the 2017 season is Chris Boswell. Boswell was an absolute godsend from the moment Pittsburgh signed him in 2015.

Boswell has provided stability at the kicking position that the Steelers are very thankful for. Without his consistent play, the Steelers could have looked at a game this weekend rather than a bye.

Boswell set a Steelers franchise record for field goals made in a season with 35 made kicks. He also put four of the team’s wins on his back with game winning field goals in four of the Steelers five games from week 10 to week 14.

Without the consistent and trustworthy leg of Boswell, the Steelers could be looking at possibly missing the playoffs altogether. After the days of Josh Scobee, Boswell is a godsend and undoubtedly Steeler Nation’s hero.
