Stop the Run

The Jaguars strengths are essentially twofold. They have the pass defense, which we touched on, and they have the run. The Jaguars lead the league in rushing with 2262 yards. Leonard Fournette has had a strong rookie season with over a thousand yards. It’s not a one man show however. Chris Ivory added nearly 400 yards, Blake Bortles has underrated running skills, and then TJ Yeldon and Corey Grant through in about 250 yards each.

Everybody on the Jags can run the ball. The Steelers will be aided by having the best defense they have had in years. It is their pass defense which is strongest but the rush in number 10 overall. There is an extra level of difficulty however because the Steelers will be playing without arguably their best defensive player in Ryan Shazier. Pittsburgh must stop the run first and make the Jags rely on the pass.
