Pittsburgh Steelers Film Room: Linebacker Malik Jefferson

The Pittsburgh Steelers draft coverage rolls on. I am attacking linebacker hard as I believe the Steelers will address it early in this year’s draft.

The Steelers linebacker depth was tested after Shazier went down. They did not perform well and Sean Spence was exposed as a much lesser athlete than Shazier and became a liability.

The Steelers miss the athleticism and speed Shazier possesses. Any defense will tell you it is game changing.

The next guy in the film room could do wonders in helping to replace what they lost in Shazier. Malik Jefferson from Texas could be the answer Pittsburgh is looking for.

Because Jefferson is a junior, like Leighton Vander Esch, he will be more raw than a fourth or fifth year senior. Jefferson came out early and with good reason.

His abilities are enticing to NFL teams in need of linebackers. He has the tools necessary to excel at the next level.
