How does Fred Warner fit the Pittsburgh Steelers?

Fred Warner brings versatility to his game. While I view him as a hybrid player, he can fill either role in a defense.

Warner, as of now, is not a first round pick. Should the Steelers go safety in round 1, they could look to Warner in round 2 or later.

Warner would bring a versatile skill set to the Steelers’ defense. He could play inside linebacker, outside linebacker or even the safety/linebacker in dime sets.

His coverage ability could get him a spot in the rotation on third downs or obvious passing situations. While I do not see him immediately starting full-time at any position, I do see him providing great depth and a solid situational player early in his career.

NFL teams will need to find a solid role for him early in his career. Whether that is hybrid, linebacker or safety will depend on where he ends up. His speed and athleticism will allow him to excel on special teams if nothing else his rookie year.

The Pittsburgh Steelers need an impactful middle linebacker or safety early in the draft. If Warner slips to the third or fourth, they could look to him to add quality depth and versatility to a youthful defense.
