The Pittsburgh Steelers have added more depth to their offensive line.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed another member of their 2018 free agent list. After making a few coaching changes early in the offseason, Pittsburgh has started making moves to their 2018 free agent list. Starting with signing offensive lineman, B.J. Finney to a one-year extension.

Finney is yet another member of the offense returning in 2018. The team will likely be unable to resign Chris Hubbard this offseason, so maintaining offensive depth on the line is key with returning guys.

The versatile guard is a key part to the depth of this offensive line. Playing both sides of the line, Finney has stepped in for David DeCastro and Ramon Foster last season while also playing center when called upon.

Signing Fiiney is big for the Steelers. This team is looking to keep everything in tact moving into next season, and Ben Roethlisberger’s protection is key. Finney’s contribution in depth is significant for an aging offensive line. The starting five  is still one of the NFL’s best, but from time to time, Finney is the man stepping in. The fact that he can do that at any position is major for a team fighting for a Super Bowl.

This is the beginning of plenty of signings Pittsburgh is going to make in the upcoming month or so. The list of free agents isn’t extremely wrong, but the Steelers do have names they need to resign this offseason. While they look to keep enough cap space to sign Le’Veon Bell, this team is looking to make sure everyone is back next season.

Expect plenty more signings to happen within the next upcoming weeks. Pittsburgh is working on everything before the spring. Finney is a first step to a long offseason, but an important part of this offense moving forward.
