Xavier Grimble

Xavier Grimble has been the Steelers third-string tight end for the past two years. I expect him to battle for a roster spot again this offseason.

He was seen as a developmental prospect when he came into the league, and should not be viewed much differently. He has good size and has proven that he is capable of making an impact as a receiver. One thing he could improve is his blocking and needs more consistency. I see him as a solid third tight end who should continue to improve.

In my opinion, Grimble will remain the third tight end on the depth chart. If the team selects a tight end early in the draft it will likely spell the end of Vance McDonald’s time in Pittsburgh. In my opinion, the only way that Grimble does not make the team is if McGee or an undrafted or late round rookie shows enough in the offseason to take his spot.
