The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to have rounded up free agency and turned their attentions to the 2018 NFL Draft. But the Still Curtain Podcast explains why there’s still more work to be done before July.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have one lingering issue this offseason and his name is Le’Veon Bell. After reports came out that he is requesting $17 million per year in his new contract, most fans deemed him a little dramatic with his wishes.
He didn’t respond to that well, and made his thoughts known on Twitter. Well, Bell, you may not have been “the villain” you thought you were at the time, but now, you’re working quickly to become it. Although, that may not stop him from getting his money by July.
Moving on from one distraction and going to another, the Steelers only have a month left to decide on Bud Dupree’s fifth-year option. $9 million guaranteed isn’t move Pittsburgh wants to throw around, and for an unproven player, making him the seventh-highest paid man on the roster is unsettling.
This team needs to make a decision, but whether or not they should keep him around may depend on the options they have to replace him.
And free agency. The Pittsburgh Steelers exploded the market and brought in two stars for almost nothing. After filling major needs early, this team can now focus on the smaller voids and filling the roster. Whether that means returning players or more new guys is up in the air, but there are options for both.
