Round 5, Pick 28 (165 overall) – WR Justin Watson, Penn

Pittsburgh is in a bit of a situation after the 2018 season. Following the season, only Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster are signed beyond 2018.

Martavis Bryant is likely gone after the season, which should come as no surprise. With Eli Rogers’ future in the air following his torn ACL, there is a need to replenish the receiver room as soon as possible.

Justin Watson is a small school player from Pennsylvania University. His production while at Penn was astounding putting up 3,777 yards on 286 receptions and 33 touchdowns in his four years there.

The 6’3″ 225 pound receiver confirmed what he put on tape was legit with a strong pro day. He ran a 4.42 40, benched 20 reps at 225 and jumped through the roof with a 40-inch vertical.

Watson is a big bodied receiver with ball skills and production you want to see from someone his size. He is not the quickest or strongest but he works to run good routes and make plays on the ball in the air.

He could fit well in Pittsburgh as a number four his rookie year. This will help develop him into a solid number three option in his second year after Bryant leaves the receiver room has more chairs than players to sit in them.
