Round 7, Pick 28 (246 overall) – DL Joshua Frazier, Alabama

Pittsburgh’s defensive line depth needs a little more polish this offseason. Last year they did a great job signing Tyson Alualu as he provided great depth and started when Stephon Tuitt was sidelined with injury.

Daniel McCullers was drafted in 2014 with the vision of him turning into a great run stuffing defensive lineman. Three seasons in and that is not the case.

McCullers has been signed to a one year deal this offseason, much to the shock of fans. He has not produced much at all and is a healthy scratch on game days more often than not.

Joshua Frazier can be the pick in the seventh and develop into what McCullers should have. Frazier is not then next Aaron Donald and won’t be a pass rushing interior lineman but he will clog running lanes and take on blockers.

Frazier has good size and strength for a 3-4 nose. This will allow him to eat blockers and double teams in the middle to free up blitzers or open gaps to allow for easier gap fills from the linebackers.

Pittsburgh needs to continue to build line depth to keep Cameron Heyward and Tuitt healthy. They can fill that need, and some running lanes, with this pick late on day three.
