Quarterback

Going quarterback in the first round means a lot for the draft, but even more for the future of Josh Dobbs. Mason Rudolph or Lamar Jackson joining the roster means Pittsburgh’s faith in Dobbs taking over the team isn’t very strong. Therefore, they’ll likely put this year’s first-round pick in the second spot on the depth chart to compete with Landry Jones.

For the rest of the draft, Pittsburgh will likely move to defense. The second-round should feature an inside linebacker like Josey Jewell or Shaquem Griffin. They’ll need to fill the coverage void at the position at some point in the draft, and waiting until the third-round doesn’t leave strong options.

The third-round can stay at safety, and Jessie Bates will remain the top option for the 92nd pick.

From there, they’ll stay the course as they would an inside linebacker and look for a running back in the early fifth-round. Kalen Ballage is their best option at this point. He provides a strong pair of hands a decent speed out of the backfield.

Outside of that, they’ll look to add depth at the offensive line and defensive interior, just as they would after taking an inside linebacker.
