Round 2, Pick 60: Jessie Bates III, S Wake Forest

The Steelers signed an inside linebacker and safety in free agency. This is not going to stop them from going to the position in the draft also.

They lack depth and the two they signed are no spring chickens. The veterans provide stability but not longevity which arises the need to invest early in them.

Bates was wildly productive as a cover man in college. His ability to cover man and zone will be appreciated in a Steelers defense lacking pass defense productivity recently.

Bates will need to work on solidifying his tackling but overall a great second round pick. The Steelers build depth with solid youth here.
