Matthew Thomas
Matthew Thomas should’ve heard his name called on Day 3 of the NFL Draft by some team. But he fell and whether it’s off the field issues or injuries, somehow he landed in Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent.
That doesn’t mean he has a mountain to climb to earn his place on a roster. Even with lingering shoulder injuries and some troubles outside of football, Thomas is one of the most highly regarded late round or undrafted rookies in this year’s class.
He has the ability to play both run stuffer and coverage from the inside, and even if Terrell Edmunds is focusing on filling safety and inside backer this season, Thomas is a great addition to the rotation.
As long as he can stay healthy during the summer and avoid trouble off the field, he’ll make this roster. Easy.
