Camerson Sutton
Cameron Sutton had high hopes heading into his rookie season with the Steelers, but after a preseason injury left him on IR for all but five games, he didn’t get much of a chance to prove himself.
Now, he’s heading into his sophomore season looking at a slot position with Mike Hilton. He’ll be relied on heavily as the nickel corner, replacing William Gay opposite of Hilton. While Hilton will still get the start, Sutton will see plenty of reps.
This is a major upgrade in the secondary for Pittsburgh. This team struggled when teams targeted Gay or one of the outside linebackers dropping into coverage. With Sutton covering short routes, he’ll take a lot of pressure off guys like T.J. Watt and Bud Dupree. This will allow more pass rush from the speedy edge guys.
