The Pittsburgh Steelers will be repping some throwbacks, hoping 2018 brings the same success these jerseys saw when they first hit the shelves.

Art Rooney II and JuJu Smith-Schuster brought some excitement to the Steelers’ summer without being on the field, or reading headlines about someone complaining on social media (or in a song). Yesterday, May 30, the two unveiled the team’s 2018 throwback uniforms Pittsburgh will wear during the 2018 season.

The team decided to stick with their winning tradition and hopefully bring the same success the throwbacks they’re wearing saw, to their current team. Rocking the 1978 black and gold, Pittsburgh is going to look as sharp as any organization when they hit the field in the new throwbacks.

The Steelers will wear these classic throwbacks on Week 8 when they face off against the Cleveland Browns in Pittsburgh. This is the 40th anniversary of the Super Bowl winning team.

Led by Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris, Pittsburgh saw one of their most successful seasons in franchise history. Going 14-2 and bringing home the team’s third Lombardi. Known for having one of the NFL’s all-time great defenses, the Steel Curtain, along with their Hall of Fame offensive stars, took the league by storm. All while wearing these classic, slick uniforms.

This year, it’s still a two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback and NFL-leading running back manning the team. Not the same legends that wore these uniforms originally, but certainly a group of players who have made their mark in the Steel City for the rest of time.

Here’s to hoping these throwbacks bring the same success the 1978 dynasty saw, to 2018. And an end result exactly the same. The talent is there, the experience is deep and the uniforms are winners, once again. All that’s left is 20 games and Art Rooney II holding another Lombardi Trophy over his head.
