Bill Cowher

Bill Cowher was the coach of the historic fifth Super Bowl win over the Seattle Seahawks. Taking over for Chuck Noll in 1992, it took Cowher no time to make his presence felt in the city.

He faced the same challenges all Steelers coaches do – the media. People wanted to discredit him for his success, and hurt his reputation when he wasn’t winning Super Bowls every year. But even if you have one of the best franchises in NFL history, it’s nearly impossible to hold up a trophy multiple times in your career.

Either way, the city and the fans adored Cowher. He’s made his place in their minds and hearts as one of the best to ever do it. Pittsburgh has a short list of coaches throughout history, and it’s because of the success they brought with them. Cowher is going to be remembered as one of those historic names.
