The Pittsburgh Steelers offseason additions aren’t over yet. The team will likely look to add another defensive back before August.

The NFL Supplemental Draft doesn’t usually offer much in star power. Terrell Pryor and Josh Gordon are the two biggest names in the league to come out of the league’s second draft of the summer.

This year, the Pittsburgh Steelers could take advantage of finding the NFL’s next surprise. Their long search for an elite defensive backfield has started to take shape. After adding Joe Haden last summer and Morgan Burnett this offseason, the team is on the verge of a top tier set of defenders.

Artie Burns, Mike Hilton and Cameron Sutton are helping this group of athletes. There is little question as to whether or not they’ll be three of the first cornerbacks on the field for the Steelers.

That doesn’t mean their search is over. With the Supplemental Draft featuring three talented corners, Pittsburgh is hoping to land another addition to their defensive rotation.

Mississippi State’s Brandon Bryant, Virginia Tech’s Adonis Alexander and Western Michigan’s Sam Beal all headline the Supplemental Draft this season. Pittsburgh won’t be looking to add any other positions, but if one of these three comes to them, they’ll tack on another corner this summer.

Whoever they add will play on the outside behind Burns and Haden, most likely. Hilton and Sutton are built for the slot. After the season Hilton had last year, and the potential Sutton brings, this team will want to see how the duo works protecting the underneath.

On the outside, Pittsburgh would love to add depth. Reliable depth. If Burns or Haden went down, this team wants to stay competitive enough to win. They also want to have enough bodies to keep their secondary sharp no matter who’s on the field.

Adding one of these Supplemental Draft picks would do just that. It would virtually eliminate the need for Coty Sensabaugh and complete this group of corners.

For the firs time in a long time, this team has the potential to be a dangerous group of outside defensive backs. That’ll finish with one more addition this July.
