How healthy is JuJu Smith-Schuster?

JuJu Smith-Schuster has spent as much time on a Steelers practice field this summer as Le’Veon Bell. Due to an undisclosed knee injury, the wide receiver sat out OTAs and mini camp, but is expected to be back for training camp.

No one knew about the injury prior to OTAs. Even while he was missing time, people had no idea it was due to a knee injury. He and the coaches expect him to be on the field during camp, but that all depends on his health status as of July 27.

Pittsburgh would like to see all three of their wide receivers on the field with each other before the season. They have a deadly combination of wideouts this season, but with James Washington being a rookie, they need to build chemistry before Week 1.

Ben Roethlisberger isn’t going to spend every snap on the field. Most of the time, he should be expected as more of a teacher than a participant. Leaving only a limited amount of opportunities for this group of receivers to learn what they need to about the starting offense.

It’s important to have as many starting bodies as possible at camp and healthy. This team is already down a running back, they aren’t looking to add a missing wide receiver to their list of training camp non participants, too.
