Todd Gurley got paid and Le’Veon Bell is still waiting. The Still Curtin Podcast brings you everything you need to know about the running back’s words towards the Pittsburgh Steelers.
When the Still Curtain Podcast crew got together over the weekend, intentions were to record the podcast on Monday. John and Noah met up, but by the end of the night, they decided they weren’t feeling right about recording it that night.
Then, Tuesday rolled around. They made plans to record that night, and by some grace they were blessed with one of the busiest days of the summer. Talking about Le’Veon Bell not signing a deal became that much more interesting, and with Todd Gurley’s extension, there were claims to be made.
$60 million over four years with $45 million guaranteed. This sounds awfully familiar.
Todd Gurley got the contract Le’Veon Bell would’ve accepted. It’s not his $17 million a season, but $15 million would’ve worked with all that guaranteed money. But, the Rams decided they needed to pay their running back and the Steelers didn’t. So, Gurley is stuck in LA the next six years and Bell will be taking his talents to the open market next offseason.
Check out Ep. 15:
This doesn’t impact the season. Bell will sit out training camp, but will be ready in time for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. The two sides will remain in negotiations once the season ends and hopefully, they can land a long-term deal.
If not, Bell will get his money somewhere, and the Steelers will turn to James Conner and Jaylen Samuels to answer the running back duties.
