The Still Curtain Podcast is aware that half of Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans do not want Dez Bryant on the team. But that means nothing when the Steelers think about signing him.
Lets start with training camp. Heading into Week 2, we’re now seeing the first of Morgan Burnett, but plenty of others are already dealing with injuries. Nothing serious, but it’s leading to plenty of reps from younger players, who have taken full advantage of their opportunity.
Terrell Edmunds is the biggest standout so far. It’s not easy for a rookie to intercept Ben Roethlisberger, but when Edmunds is running first-team reps, he’s found the ball more than once. This doesn’t mean he’s surpassing Burnett, but it could lead to an extended role in his first year, and it may also mean his time spent at inside linebacker increases.
On offense, it’s all about the wide receivers, or lack of. JuJu Smith-Schuster is out, once again, with an undisclosed injury. The team hasn’t deemed anything serious, but after missing all of OTAs and mini camp, it’s concerning to see him off the field.
Check out Ep. 16:
That’s not the biggest news floating around camp, though. Antonio Brown has started to recruit Dez Bryant, and as much as people are complaining on Twitter, there’s a chance the wide receiver ends up in Pittsburgh, this season.
He’s a great scheme fit for a quarterback like Big Ben. His attitude is obviously a concern, but on a team like the Steelers, that may not be as loud with a staff around him that doesn’t like to deal with controversial people.
