The Pittsburgh Steelers faced another scary moment earlier this week, as Ben Roethlisberger left practice to be evaluated for a concussion.

According to Mike Tomlin, Roethlisberger entered concussion protocol after hitting the ground during drills in practice. He was ruled out of the Steelers’ Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Thursday morning, however, Roethlisberger was spotted with the team in Green Bay. After concerns of missing extended time, it appears that the quarterback’s status has been changed to healthy, or at least “ok.”

According to KDKA’s Bob Pompeani, Roethlisberger traveled to Wisconsin with the Steelers and is reportedly “ok.”

This is good news for the Steelers. Big Ben doesn’t need to touch the field in any preseason game this year. At 36-years-old, he’s earned his stripes in this league, and should be focusing on getting into game shape in practice, not preseason games.

It’s never fun to see your starting quarterback stay on the ground, though. When Ben ran into Marcus Gilbert and fell in practice, he stayed on the ground for a few minutes. He then left the facility and was diagnosed under the concussion protocol.

Nothing was ruled serious and reporters and Mike Tomlin seemed to feel as though the injury was nothing to be concerned about. But having him in Green Bay is a good sign, and knowing he’s doing well is a weight off the shoulders of all fans.

Pittsburgh will use his leadership in Week 2 from the sidelines. Josh Dobbs and Mason Rudolph will be the only two quarterbacks to play against Green Bay. Roethlisberger will certainly be coaching these young QBs from the sidelines, as both compete for a roster spot.

Ben’s health is a major concern for Pittsburgh. Antonio Brown had his fair share of scares so far this offseason. The team doesn’t want to continue playing this game with their quarterback as well.
