The Pittsburgh Steelers have shown it all, both good and bad, through two weeks of the preseason. Leaving a new group of breakout candidates on the table.

It’s hard to say anyone has seen most of the Steelers’ preseason coming. A blowout win against the Eagles where everything seemed to fall into place, followed by one of the worst performances of the offseason against the Packers.

Leaving us half way through their exhibition campaign with a lot to learn from and a new group of players looking to lead the way. At this point in the offseason, teams are finding themselves. Pittsburgh is no different.

Right now, the guys we were hoping to see breakout in 2018 have not shown us much. Bud Dupree, Tyler Matakevich, Justin Hunter have show no promise. In fact, it may be time to talk about how to replace some of them.

There are new faces making plays, though. Promising young faces. Which, despite the concern for some players, leaves hope that the Steelers are in good shaping heading into the regular season. One more strong performance from these candidates, and 2018 could be the year they turn into stars. Not only in Pittsburgh, but the NFL.
