The Still Curtain Podcast breaks down everything we’ve seen and haven’t seen through two weeks of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ preseason schedule.
So far, the Pittsburgh Steelers have shown it all. From promising rookies to concerning veterans, this team is on course to be about as mediocre as they come. At least that’s what the preseason is saying.
Against the Eagles, this team clicked on all cylinders. There were rookies showing off, veterans making plays and for a quick second, this team looked like everything they were supposed to be.
Then, they went to Green Bay. The Packers used their starters more than almost any team in the second week of the preseason. It was easy to see. Pittsburgh had no answers defensively for Aaron Rodgers or the rest of the Packers’ quarterbacks.
Check out Ep. 17:
On offense, they looked good at times and timid at others. Mason Rudolph isn’t there yet, despite only throwing one interception through two games. Josh Dobbs’ time is running out and Landry Jones remains the best option behind Ben Roethlisberger.
On defense, we still have no idea what’s coming from Bud Dupree. Many believed the change in position was going to benefit him. It did, for a single play. Then, like much of the defense, he vanished.
James Washington is going to be a star. But where does he fit on the offensive playing field? There are so many weapons that Pittsburgh may be running out of places to put them. At least that’s the case with James Conner.
Two weeks is plenty of time to answer the remaining questions. Expect to see more starters and a better version of the Steelers this Saturday.
