Matthew Thomas

Matthew Thomas is red hot right now, and needs to take advantage of the largest concern on the Steelers’ defense. Tyler Matakevich, as noted before, is falling fast. Jon Bostic still looks like he’s lost on the field. Leaving the undrafted rookie to earn his spot.

He’s on the verge of missing the roster or becoming the starter. The competition is that tight, and anyone can find themselves playing with the first team or looking for a job come Week 1.

Thomas has won the hearts of the fans, and could win the hearts of the coaches with one more strong performance. Inside linebacker is clearly the team’s most significant concern, and if Thomas provides some type of security he’ll be the man on the field.

He has all the athleticism and potential. He just needs to prove himself one last time. If he does, he’ll end up being No. 1 alongside Vince Williams.
