Explaining the Pittsburgh Steelers 53-man roster
By Edward Hunt
Inside Linebacker
1. Vince Williams
2. Jon Bostic
3. Tyler Matakevich
4. Matthew Thomas
5. LJ Fort
The Steelers have a weakness at this position. Jon Bostic should be the mack linebacker, but he only had Tyler Matakevich to beat for the job. Matakevich should be the special teams ace he was last year. Matthew Thomas was undrafted, but I could see him being the mack linebacker as the season goes on. LJ Fort was kept for special teams reasons, although he did have a decent preseason at linebacker.
Cornerback
1. Joe Haden
2. Artie Burns
3. Mike Hilton
4. Cameron Sutton
5. Coty Sensabaugh
The Steelers are actually strong at this position despite what those in the major media think. Haden will have gone through a full preseason with the Steelers. Artie Burns is in his third year. Mike Hilton is coming off a good year. Cameron Sutton is a third-round pick who could step in the slot or on the outside. Coty Sensabaugh had a nice preseason. I was surprised Brian Allen wasn’t kept, but at least they have him on the practice squad.
