The start to the Pittsburgh Steelers season came to a surprise to nearly everybody watching. A win against the inferior Cleveland Browns was indeed expected, or perhaps even a loss by strong-willed faithful in the Dawg Pound that day… yet both teams walk away with a tie. This was the first Steelers tie since 2002 match-up against the Atlanta Falcons in a classic Michael Vick/Tommy Maddox battle.
Le’Veon Bell’s absence continues into the second week of the season as the Steelers return to the friendly confines of Heinz Field in preparations of the 2018 home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs. You know the monkey the Steelers can’t get off their back in the New England Patriots?
Pittsburgh provides the same role in the eyes of Chiefs fans, as the Steelers have won the last seven of ten games between the two. As Pittsburgh returns home, it also is notable the last time Kansas City walked out of the steel city with a win was 1986, five years before the world-wide web became available to use.
Questions still remain to be answered in the days leading up to Sunday, mostly on the injury front. Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) and David DeCastro (fractured hand) both are expected to play Sunday despite their respective injuries. Joe Haden (hamstring) exited the game after duties on special teams, and is questionable for week two.
We got a taste of the Steelers last Sunday, yet Pittsburgh has not seen the Chiefs in nearly a year. How are they the same? How are they different? What does Kansas City do well, and where are there holes? Understandably so, you don’t have time to digest game film and talk to those on the opposite side. That’s where yours truly comes in.
